Hi guys can anyone who has a DIY CO2 system in place please help me. My cannister ran out some months back so i switched off the CO2 and just left it, now I have come to change the bottle i have noticed the regulator does not seem to make the vibrating noise it used to make infact it sounds powerless when plugged in. I set to taking it apart and found my diffuser, pipe, and brass chamber were all flooded with water and then when I removed the chamber I noticed a few drops of water drip from the valve below that which carries the gas. Does it sound like water has backed up and damaged something and if so which parts.

Pics below...:-g

Having water in the solenoid outlet side is never a good sign. Having it back up all the way into the gas cylinder is a disaster. The regulator should not make any noise if it is working right, mine is dead silent. My solenoid is also silent but warms up a bit when the valve is open. The only noise I ever hear is the sound that the gas makes when coming out of my diffuser. The solenoid should have been shut off ever since you ran out of gas so there should never have been any water getting into the gas bottle / extinguisher. I use a regular gas bottle rather than a fire extinguisher, so I don't have any experience with your kind of setup.

Did you have a non reurn valve at some point between the solenoid and diffuser? It's pretty much essential to run one to prevent back siphoning of water into the solenoid.
