Diy Co2 Not Producing Enough Force?

I made my diy co2 kit a few days ago, 1 2ltr plastic bottle feeding into a smaller 300ml bottle as a bottle checker. Aquarium sealent used all over the kit.

I then filled the bottle 3/4 the way with water, added 2 cups of sugar and 1 teaspoon of dried active yeast (i activated the yeast first in 1/4 cup of lukewarm water, a bit of sugar and a lot of stirring). Now I'm getting a reaction about 12 hours after connecting the bottle to my kit, I'm now getting maybe 1 bubble into my bubble counter every 2 seconds, however nothing is coming out of the ceramic reactor.

I thought that maybe it just needed time to build up enough pressure, but nothing seems to be happening. If I squeeze the plastic bottle then lots of small bubbles come through the reactor so I don't think it's necessarily a leak anywhere. Maybe I just bought some bad yeast?

I've read from other people here who are getting 2/3 bubbles per second. I'm just wondering if I should go for that number with a new mix, or weather it's possible that the co2 is diffusing through the ceramic reactor without any bubbles appearing?

If it is a ceramic diffuser then it can take quite a while for CO2 to come through, but a few days is still a long time.

sounds as though the mixture isnt working, make up a new mix

What size is the tank? What size is the diffusor (diameter of cup/disc.)

I used to use 2 Nutrafins and 1 x 2Ltr DIY into my 1¼ inch diffusor!!! Worked OK then.

I agree with Aaron. Even allowing for the reaction between yeast and sugar to get going it should be diffusing well within 24 hours.

I used to use 1½ teaspoons of yeast with 2 cups of sugar in the DIY unit.

May I ask what diffuser that was/is exactly? Sounds like the kind of thing I could do with.

Cheers!

Rhinox 2000 but any of the small ones on ebay would work. 2 for £4 ones would be ideal.

Sounds like a leak somewhere.

Take the entire system out and put it in the bath filled with water. Then squeeze the bottle to see if there are any air bubbles from any of the connections.

or just mix some washing up liquid with water and squirt it on each connection where you will see bubbles if there is a leak. this is what we use on welding plants.
