Hi all, pretty new when it comes to plants

I have a fluval mini co2 kit however the co2 bottle and valve have failed therefore want to go down the diy route. I was going to build my system by drilling a hole in a 2L bottle cap and sealing it, then putting yeast mixture in the bottle and hooking it up to my bell diffuser. I just want to know if a bubble counter is really needed? , i can sort of count the bubbles in my diffuser however will a bubble counter save me if the yeast bottle overflows?

Im growing some HC in a 8 gallon tank

Have a look through parc and you'll see Andy's guide on DIY CO2, really good!
