hi guys...
I just bought the nutrafin natural plant system, and i was just wonderin if it's necessary for me to keep buying the stabilizer and activator packs.....I was wonderin if i could just make the formula my self with yeast and baking soda and if so how much baking soda, yeast and sugar should i put to produce proper CO2...thanks....

The satchets that come supplied with the unit are usless TBH you are much better off making up a DIY mix, you fill the unit with ordinary sugar up to the top of the jutting out fins (best way i can describe it, its pretty obvious though) i add 1/2 to 2/3 a teaspoon of ordinary bread yeast and a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda, and then add water (again up to the level indicated on the unit, not to the very top) the water i use is luke warm, think tank water warm, any warmer and you will kill the yeast.

Heres the pinned article on co2, its worth a read if you are just starting to use co2 for the first time, in the beginning you may have to play around with the mix until you get it right.

recepie as zig said but to add i would only fill the water 2/3 full, an inch short of the top fin. this stops the froth shooting up the tubes should you have been a little over generous on the yeast. i've dont this for the past 6 months and cant see any drawbacks just added peice of mind.
