Diy Co2 Check Valve And Bubble Counter

I have just set up my DIY nutrafin CO2 system. i've read about check valves to stop siphoning problems so i was thinking of buying one. i have also read about bubble counters but i'm not sure if i need one with a DIY system. surely you can just count the bubbles as seen in the bubble ladder?? should i buy both or jsut a check valve? any help would be appreciated.

you dont need a bubble counter with nutrafin ladder, i didn't use a check valve either, its up to you how cautious you are.
