Ive just rigged it all up and now waiting for something to happen...

I havent fitted it to a bubble machine or to my pump, ive just hung the tube in which goes right down behind the plants to the bottom. Ive added a cigarette but in the tube to help the small bubbles. Is this enough? Or should I have fited it to the pump to help draw the c02 through the tube?

i recently added a diy co2 system and i used an airstone as a diffuser and its working fine! I chose to add an extra bottle just a small one to catch any of the mixture brought through the pipes!

How do you mean? Not sure how you added another bottle to catch some overflow...

Well its bubbling! But unfortunately just 1 largish bubble every 2 seconds... I was looking for tiny bubbles that floated around the water rather than straight up to the top, i may look at piercing the tube with lots of pin pricks and then plug the end up so it is forced to release through them

i have my bottle with the mixture, the tube comes out of the lid and into a small pop bottle. A seperate tube comes out of the top of the small bottle and up to my tank, on the end of the tube is a small airstone. The idea of the second bottle is to catch any of the mixture that gets brought up with the gas preventing it from entering your tank acting as a seperater.

Now I think about it, it makes perfect sense! Good idea. Before I went o bed I emptied a bit out of the bottle as the foam was almost touching the tube. Ill definitely look in to this. Thanks mate!

You'll probably find that DIY co2 in a 240l tank is a waste of time. You wont be able to get enough Co2 into the water and without a powerhead it wont be distributed to all the reaches of the tank.

I'm currently using a 3kg cylinder with a reg and defuser, but I'm awaiting a co2 reactor so that I can get the Co2 to dissolve better.

Its what I was thinking. But what I have done is, put the end of the tube at the bottom of the tank directly under the single power head that I have. Ive tilted the filter exit up slightly for more agitation which now it spreads air bubbles through the water.

The idea is that that c02 will bubble to the surface and then be dragged back down with the agitation....?

Well, its worth a try anyway, the tips of my plants were looking pretty unhappy and brown, so if it makes any difference then I shall update this thread

Hey, kinda jibbed reading after i read about the micro bubble distributor. but i saw this, when i was browsing http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/330684-nano-co2-diffuser/
might help, if you stick it next to a powerhead or something, might spread it round more. Dont know, but gd luk :good:
