Does anyone have an idea for the Breeding/Egg from mother separating tank? I don't have time to go to the hardware store and buy polystyrene strips, nylon fly screen, you know what i mean. Just stuff you find around the house please. And make it small cause i only have a 10 gal tank and i'm planning to keep most of the grown up in the goldfish bowl and then sell em(don't worry i'm geting a filter 4 it).

Get a 2 litre pop bottle, cut the top off it, and put tights or a net type of material over the top, it worked for me but it was quite flimsy.

Your better off buying a breeding trap of some sort then, put it in a spare tank or something and you can get ones made for livebearers or egg layers. They have holes in the bottom and some of the eggs may fall through but I don't think many will, but it's up to you. Your better off just waiting for her to drop them, or put her in a tank with marbles as a substrate.

Danios need room to swim, just use marbles or something similar like rounded rocks as a substrate in a breeding TANK. So the eggs can fall through and the parents can't eat them. IMHO, i'd just let them lay their eggs/have fry in your main tank, and let them do a "survival test", you will be suprised how many survive.

really?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
WOW I NEVER KNEW!!! omg! so ur saying that many of my fry will survive against my new panda catfish(1 inch), 3 platies (about 1.3-1.5 inch long), 3 danios, 1 fancy guppy, 2 neon tetras, and 2 ghost shrimps???

If you have places for them to hide, but I didn't say all of them will survive. If all of them survive you will be very lucky, but i'd say if you had 30 babys, atleast 10 would survive providing they are well fed and have plenty of hiding places. Maybe more will survive.

If you do purchase a breeding trap "ensure" that it comes with a breathable lid, I have had a male betta jump into the trap and eat the lot, Huge Mistake - Frank has now been put into his own tank.

Mistakes are only made once.
