This may be no good at all but here goes.

I was looking around the pond stuff in my lfs for ideas for a 8x2x2 tank filters ect when i looked at the fibreglass rocks and waterfalls for ponds ( big light bulb above my head ) Do you think these could be used as a back ground in a tank.

I have not done any research on this as i thought someone else must have thought of this ?

I see no reason why they couldn't. They would have to be fish safe in order to be used in ponds.
