DIY 5.5g tank top

Ok today I decied to set up a 5.5g for my mommy platy becuase i think her time is coming up for birth. Since I had this thing since I was 5, the top broke so it's creativity time! I'll post up a few pics in a sec.

ok first you get some kind of thin wooden material (plywood). In my case it was left over house siding.

here's the other side.

right in the middle of the board there's 1 space that dips in, I'm ordering mini LED sticks (2qnty, 1.2-2 in.) to put in there for the night light and for the day, 1 clear LED stick (5inches).

next you have to measur/cut.

remember to measure you'r tank's opening twice.

then, get a saws-all and cut a feeder hole, filter space/drill homes for UG filter.

now you need some sand paper and a sander so get rid of the edges and what not.

I did some staining today and it's airing out.

Thats definately gonna mold up and warp on you real quick. I'd put like 30 coats of polyurathane on it. Even with that though, its life would still be rather short.
