Ok, so for those who haven't read my thread in the oddball section, im planning on building a 270 gallon, 72"x36"x24" (LxWxH) My budget for the whole tank is $2000. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a 270 gallon tank less than $1500, and filters alone cost $1000.
I have read the stickey for DIY tank, but I have also heard things change alot when building larger tanks. How should I go about building it? What would be the general price in the end. I'm hoping I would save a decent amount.
For a tank like this I would prefer to go acrylic.
Some questions on materials:
a ) What should be the thickness of the glass?
b ) Should I or should I not use seam?
c ) How many sheet(s) should i order, and does anyone know a company (near NJ, USA) or ships?
If anyone has a thread or a link which gives detail on building a tank of a similar size, it would help SO much.
