Man oh man. I spent 10 bucks on a divider today thinking I can split it into three and make my 10 gallon have 4 sections. I find out I can't even split it into 2. @!$(*&#%@#@(#%% This means I have to go back and buy 2 more, total being 30 bucks for dividers. Man oh man. Oh, discuss dividers here. :p

Why don't you make your own using craft canvas? That's what I do. I've even made tank lids using it. It's like 50 cents for a huge sheet.

I use craft canvas for lids too, I haven't made it in dividers yet, but I have two sheets ready for that purpose. How do you finish them? To hold them on the tank I mean...wire? -_-

If I make it myself, can I buy a sheet of plexyglass?

You could. I'm going to use a sheet of plexi-glass to section off a 10 gallon for Betas.

isnt plexi glass kinda expensive?.. thats what i heard..

i use plastic poster board type stuff.. its like a plastic cardboard..

its like $5 for a piece that will probably be big enough to do like 6 10g tank dividers

I dunno, I'm going to use scrap stuff from my girlfriend's dad. He has a bunch of it from some home improvement work he did on their house last year.

I like dividers that are permeable in 10 gallons because then you are able to filter the tank as a whole, downside to that is disease of course, but it cuts down on water changes.

Welp, I need plexiglass. Where can I get some? Hardware store?

yea.. the filtering thing was an issue..

tried many ways to get water flowing, but didnt really end up finding a fool-proof way..

thats probably why i dont have any divided tanks, and lots of leftover plastic board

Hardware store should have it. To solve the pesky flow issue, simply drill some small holes in the plates large and numerous enough to allow flow. Or you can cut a thin groove on the sides and middle to help the flow.

aquariumpro.com has dividers for 4.99 ea. I always order other stuff with them, so the shipping is spread out over everything I buy. I always save a bundle.

I just got finished deviding my ten gallon up. You can by the perfect size plexi glass at Home Debot for about $1 a peice. I drilled three holes going diagonally through the plexi for air circulation, used aquarium sealent to put it all together.

The hard part is drilling it without cracking it. And make sure you sandpaper down the edges so no one of the fishy persuasion gets hurt!

I just bought some plastic needlepoint canvas from Michaels. It cost 39 cents for a sheet 10.5 x 13.5 inches. You can cut it really eaisly and it seems to be working really well.
