Well i'm close to tears as the divider in my 5 gallon tank broke and the 2 bettas fought with each other!

I didnt notice at the time as I was playing on my stupid computer and when I looked up I noticed my red*blue in the wrong side.

I've fished them out and put the red guy back in his own side whilst putting the other in a container.

What should I do? Will one of them die do you think? They both have torn some fins, the yellow and silver one coming off worst.

I'm so upset :'(

Ben

:/ well as this has never happened to me before, i'm not sure exactly what to say. i think i'd go through routine steps of adding medicine to each betta's water (BettaFix? MelaFix?) for the torn fins, as i'm sure they hurt.

how are they doing now? :(

My red and blue guy seems absolutly fine, my yellow and silver however has torn fins etc. so i've moved him into a seperate container and i'm going to have to get a more permanent divider in place.

Ben

Yep, just treat him for the torn fins, put some salt in his water and let him recuperate, hopefully it's no worse than what he might have endured during spawning, and more times than not, they survive and grow back their fins.

The one you moved to a seperate container, make sur he feels at home like put some gravel in the bottom and etc... but im not sure if im right cuz im jus a newbie

Don't you worry, I put a small layer of gravel and a soft fake plant for him to rest in.

He seems ok at the moment, I will just treat him the best I can and hope he survives alright :)

Oh no Ben! Poor guys. Good luck with them, I'm sure they'll both be fine

use bettamax-NOT BETTAFIX! polyaqua is also good if you can find it. every betta owner needs to keep a box of bettaMAX around-it is the all around betta tonic.

that hapepned to my betta once :) it took roughly 1.5 weeks before i started to see hte tail actually mend together. Meanwhile during that time i ketp the water clean, raised the tmepreature slightly and put in melafix on a regular basis.

it's now been around a month, and his tial is 90% back :D just got a litlt emark where the split was (dont' think it'll ever go away, battle scars i guess)
