Divideing tank?

This is probably going to sound like a stupid question, but do you have to put a filter on either side of a 10 gallon tank? I know the answer is probably dumb but just wondering

Depends what you use for a divider. If it's water permeable, only one filter is needed. If it's solid, then you will need two.
