Hi folks....as the title says looking for some recommendations on what dither fish to add to my Roma 240, at the moment or I should say by next week in the tank will be keyholes, apisto boreli, cacs 10 cardinals, seven sterbia corys and 4 ottos.
Not sure whether to up the cardinals or have some others dithers in there as well, I did have rummys in the tank for a year but have just sold them on after I decided on a change.
Any ideas appreciated

Ian

I would get more cardinals. One large shoal always looks better than more smaller ones.

I would go with Pencilfish to occupy the upper levels. Or maybe a good-sized shoal of Black Neons or Penguin Tetra.

I second adding more cardinals - a big school would be very eye-catching. I'm planning to do the same when I set up my 55 gallon.

Quite like that idea..... How many do you reckon ???

Thanks

Just to make sure you're aware: Black Neons (Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi) are not just black Neon Tetras (Paracheirodon innesi). These guys make great dithers for dwarf cichlids because they are hardy, fairly robust, quite fast, and tend to stay a bit higher in the tank than your typical tetra. They can look pretty striking if kept in a good number and a well-planted tank. Increasing the number of Cardinals is a no-brainer if you're struggling to think of something else. I'd add at least 10 of either of them, but then I'm not sure exactly how many dwarf cichlids will be in there with them.

By the way, mixing Cacas with Borelii may not be the greatest idea; Borelii's can be very shy and won't compete well with Cacas if there's limited floor-space. I reckon 3 Cacas and 4 Keyholes would be a good number to go for, if you're undecided in that regard.

Thanks for the info....will have to look into the black neons then looking to have at least 20.....should have added the boreli's or the cacs will be in another tank
