the nightlight tank is having a lot of problems. the agele is out of control now. we bought ottos to help clear it up but as far as i can tell there are none left in the tank (we have removed only one body) the fish are not looking well and there are not as many ghost shrimp as ive had in the past. there are fry, there were born in the tank and noone has eaten them. there is plants in the tank, duckweed and vines. how do i get rid of my algea problem? how can i make my tank happy again???  :/

Have you got any ideas what your tank levels are (especially the NitrAtes???) 15 gal tank you could try a bristlenose pleco only grow to bout 5" and one sorted my tank out?

High phosphate levels are also a major cause of algae, my algae problems have much reduced since I started using phos-zorb a phospahte absorbing resin, but if you would rather stay away from artificial means try increasing the number of plants that you have, especially fast growing varieties that will use up the spare nutrients and hopefully out compete the algae.

Hope this helps! :fun:

What kind of algae u have? Becs66 is right on the high phosphate a contributing factor to algae. Another is high nitrate.

Another thing I can think of is the amount of light. Since the lights r on at nights, there will be a possibility of natural daylight gone into the tank during daytime, thus the tank will be receiving too much lights the whole day.
