Hi, I have 4 "lake isle rasboras" or "tiger rasboras" or "Inlecypris auropurpureus" or "Kultarasbora" . All four have a small bump on their lower jaw/lip. These bumbs seem to "swell" up and then the swelling goes away and the bump returns to its normal very small size. The bumps are usually whitish but when they swell up they look like light blue balloons.
I have read that some rasboras have this when they sexually mature.
Someone at the local fish store said it is somthing the males have to rub on the females for maiting purposes.
I am a bit concerned it is a disease though. One of the four had two thin white worm-like parasites (I assume they were parasites) on its fins. these "parasites" were there from the store and I didnt notice them at first. The "parasites" are gone now, and appeared to just fall off after about a month in good quality water.
-->perhaps now in the substrate and going to cause problems if the future??
All 4 of my fish have the bump on their lower jaw, but only 1-2 of them seem to have a bump that swells up periodicly. (this is not for certain, the fish are hard to differentiate)
I can get a picture if anyone wants one...
