Hello all, back again with another discus question.

I was originally going to save £400 or £600 for a Rio 240 or Rio 300

BUT!

I came across these nice cheap brand new tanks on eBay. :hyper:

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if any of these tanks are suitable for keeping discus in.

Here are the dimensions LxWxH

1. 120x48x74cm Hooded Tank. 330L

2. 123x43x73cm Hooded Tank. 300L

3. 103x48x75cm Hooded Tank. 250L

4. 107x50x50cm Open Top Tank. 240L

Or here are the links in the same order(Info at bottom of page + 4's dimensions are written backwards):

Some of the pictures are for different sizes so don't let them fool you. :)
Any comments about them would be great. Also I would like to note I'll be buying a TetraTecEX1200 or TetraTecEX2400 instead unless you think they are good enough.

Thanks! :good:

I would say go with number 1, more space the better for discus imo. Maybe upgrade the lighting to T8 if your gonna go planted :)

I like #4, but for discus I would buy #1 and add the extra filter but also keep the built in. The 3 t5's would be good lighting for most plants.

Yep, I know the shop. I regularly buy supplies from them.

have a look at their full range on their online store:

I was going to get the 330 litre (your #1) for my discus before the LFS sold me one of their old tanks for next to nothing.

Light is a bit weak though. It's ok if you want a few hardy plants, but if you want a fully planted tank with some demanding plants, it's not easy or cheap to upgrade, because you cannot just remove the hood, since it contains the filter.

You might want to check out ND acquatics.

They are a bit more expensive, but they are custom built, so you can get your exact size, and you get to choose the filter (or sump), lighting and any other equipment you like.

Horrible horrible tank IMO I have the 250l with discus in and tetra 1200 running it funny enough. They are cheap as they are poorly put together I have done a review on the tank when I got on here. Another members tank nearly fell through after a year due to a leaking base, just a heads up :good:
