while trying to raises the temperature by 2 degrees to 27 so i could then drop it to hopefully stimulate spawning the heater decided to break when i was in bed last night came down to a boiling fish tank around 35 degrees Celsius all fish peristed all 3 baby rainbow fish and my 9 black cories which ive had scince january of this year as you may know from my post "went to the fish shop today" i hate this hobby, i may just sell all my tanks

Sorry to hear of your troubles J Archer. I'd love to find any black cories and now you've lost so many. If you really don't enjoy the hobby, you could always pass along whatever you have left of equipment or fish to people nearby you who would enjoy them.

That is nasty!

It is one of the hobby hazards. I have had heater mishaps, although it has generally been brought on by human carelessness rather than equipment failure. Once I accidentally changed the setting when cleaning the tank, and once someone helping me move changed the setting. Both times the fish got columnaris and eventully some died.

I don't think many really have the heart. I put out fires daily, but there are also new delights daily.

well ive decided these things happen, sucks tho i would go and buy some more (my lfs gets them in regualry) although i should be going to uni in september so most of my tanks have to go anyways. i thinking of geting rid of them all so when i finished ill can have a freash start. when i finish

Perhaps just a nice desk Betta for uni or a planted cube with some dwarf corys to stare at when the eyes glaze over during final term papers.

Dont give up mate. When I was younger about 15. I had 4 60L tanks full of guppies that I was breeding and selling to my pet shop. One summer all my tanks got heated and lost all my fish. I know they are just guppies but I lost every fish I had all at once. Mind you I had about 100ish. Didnt count how many I actually had.
