i came home from work today and apparently one of the cats had crashe through the top of one of my tanks busting the divider and allow hi ma and hao to get at each other!!!!!

there are pieces of fins everywhere and they are both pretty beaten up!!! i am cleaning the tank as we speak...

what to do???!!!!!

i have melafix, anti-fungus, silver, maracide, salt...what como? hao looks like he will be okay, hi ma's long VT is shredded and he lost his ventrals, he has some blood spots, his mouth is a mess!!!

i want to cry!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :S  :X :-(

I would say to give them a nice warm salt bath, just add salt to their current tank and maybe some melafix as well. Hope they get better.

well, hao is in a salt bath right now. he is pretty active. he has a chunk out of his anal fin, a rip in his caudal fin all the way to the body and a few other tears in his tail...

hi ma is much more lethargic, his tail is shredded, he lost a ventral, he's not moving his pectoral fins, his anal is shredded...
...oh and he had something clamped in his mouth and i pulled a piece of hao's fins out of his mouth

the divider was held in place by aquarium sealant, that's broken now..i am hopin i can convince the bf to go buy me a separate tank for one of them!

HELP!!!

Sorry to hear that happened to you. I hope they will recovery in time. When you get the black water solution, do add into their water.

well, hao ate last night, hi ma didn't. we had a nig storm, so i couldn't get anyone to go get me a tank. i tried to cover the divider, which is slightly transparent. this morning they are flaring at each other , which shows me they are feeling better, but i am going to get another tank today, after i shovel out my car! :p

I think you ought to put your cat in the naughty chair for a while.

I've heard stories like this before - your fish should recover and be fine. They might have a few nicks and scars, but they should recover. There are fish out there that fight (Because their owners get off on seeing them tormented in that way) on purpose and their owners can usually get them healed back up.

Just keep them warm, the salt baths will help greatly and make sure to keep their tank sparkly clean.

Good luck!

I'm feel for you and your betta. I'm sure with a lot of TLC, he will heal well.

I have two cats, and one is absolutely fascinated with drinking from where the filter pumps the water back into the tank. My 10 gallon is divided -- one side with tetras and one with my betta Alexi. Alexi is very interested in the tetras, so I have no desire for the divider to come down. I'm sure the time is coming when I'll arrive home and find a similar situation.

Best of luck to you.
