Hi Sorry if i've posted this thread twice, tried before but i don't think i did it right and can't see it anywhere, anyway i bought 2 shrimps today, put them in my tank and have not seen them since!! Do they hide? They were put in about 6 hours ago and i have look everywhere for them but no sign. They cannot fit up my filter and the tank is not heavily planted. The other fish in there are plattys, hasboras, tetras and corys. The guy at my lfs said they would be fine with the fish i've got but i just don't know what has happened to them. Any ideas??

I honestly don't know, I usually check names but just asked about them and said i'll take 2. Anyway i have to go back tomorrow because i also bought 3 platys (female) but when i got them home there were 2 males and 1 female, not a good combination. Just worried about these shrimps. I put a food tablet in that the lfs gave me for them to try and entice them out of whereever they are but as soon as it hit the bottom the tetras were all over it and soon ate it!! The shrimps were about 3/4 inch long and practically see through. that probably doesn't help you to identify them. sorry

Hi,
I keep 4 in each of the kids tanks and 6 in my own and never have seemed to
have any bother from other fish, yet, but sometimes I never see them all day, then at night, then at feeding time whin they seem to grab a bit then dissapear, and sometimes they are so transparent you cant see them hiding in a bushy plant.
Hope this helps a bit.

I've got 2 I hadn't seen for months, I thought they must have died but I saw both of them this week. They are really good at hiding!

some shrimp are nocternal so you might not see them till the night. I have to wait till 10:00 PM to see my 2 kuli loaches, platty, and dwarf frog to come out.

Thanks for all your replys. I was worried that the little guys had been eaten or maybe jumped out of the tank when i had the hood of but obviously they have hidden themselves very well. Cheers, its put my mind at rest.

I got 2 amano shrimp about 6 months ago. They originally hid in a castle ornament for about a week. I thought they were dead and then they re-appeared. They will hide until they get used to the tank and get the courage to keep coming out. Now they are really active and come out all the time. They even race up to the surface at feeding time and pinch food from right in front of my platies and fighter. Really cheeky and mischievous. Just give them time and they will be out.

Recently got a bamboo shrimp and he is similar. They seem very nervy at first.
