Brought home 5 otto's today to help combat the algae issue in my tank.
Acclimated them put 5 in the tank. immediately could only find 4.
Now I can only find one.
They're like masters of hiding and they're so small. It's hard to find a 1 inch brown fish in a 46G bow tank with huge rocks.

Hiding maybe due to stress of the move, and some only like to come out at night.

My otos hide quite a bit. They hid almost constantly until they had been in the tank for a few months. They are quite skittish, they still hide and I've had the oldest for well over a year.

They are more active at dusk/night. They're probably hiding/eating algae off your rocks. Don't panic.
I'm not panicing. I just happen to like looking at my fish.
I just thought they tended to band together more but mine all seem to be loners.

they are out right now though with my moonlight on but still not all 5

 thats the same with my tank, i have a coolie loach and the minute he entered my tank he buggered off! i think hes under the gravel

Mine are active all day long :D maybe its because mine arent the normal Oto though?

When i had a planted tank hey were very hard to find. I shouldnt worry about them too much but try and see if you can find them all every couple of days to make sure none have died.

sometimes i really panic when i can't find all of my ottos. i don't think i've ever seen them all at the same time and can really only do a head count when i do a water change.

If you find ottos hard to find then try owning Amano shrimp. I was convinced I'd lost mine. Suddenly after about 3 months they turned up, happy as Larry!
