Dirty Plants

Im new here and would just like a quick question to be answerd.

I have all fake plants and the can get quite dirty,i take them out every water change to give them a good scrub but i cannot get them as clean as i would like.Is there any other way to get the plants nice and clean rather than just using a tooth brush.

when i had plastic plants i used to dip them in boiling water if its algea this will kill it and it will rub of easierly i rember reading on the back of a pack of plastic plants that you are also meant to do this with new plants aswell, hope this helps
