Dirty Glass?

I've had my 55 gallon tank up and running for about 2 months now. Yesterday when feeding my fish I noticed what I thought was cloudy water. Upon closer inspection I found out it was something on the inside of the glass. I took a white cloth and cleaned it and the stuff that came off was brown. Not alot but it was there. Is this normal? I have been using quick cure for the past 8 days. My water checks out fine and I am running a filter 24 hours a day. Thanks in advance

What is quick cure and why are you using it ?

It is a treatment for parasite infections. I had lost 19 fish out of 21 to ick. Thanks

Ah ok, well unfortunately I do not know what the components of quick cure are, so that might well be the cause in water conditions.
Have you tested your water recently ? Ammonia, Nitrites and Nitrates ?

I've used Quick cure myself, but the only thing I noticed is that it stained the silicon to blue. I don't think it's causing your problem. I'm assuming that it's just algae.

IMHO it's just algea. I get it too so I just, use an algea scrubber and just remove it every once in a while from my tank.

Actually I believe it's called film algea, but a more experienced person than me could possibly confirm that.

Me too I use quick cure I guess who ever live in canada would use them . It just turns the color of ur tank a little blue during treatment will be gone in a few days. It would not cause of algea grow, if ur tank is planted probably it could be those chemical explosion and make ur tank massive clouded.

You have probably nothing to worry about, what you are experienceing is a Diatom bloom albeit on a small scale, its normal in newly set up tanks, it usually shows up within 12 weeks and should disappear as your tank becomes more established, just try and keep any excess nutrients to a minimum and dont over feed your fish, and yes its brown and on the scale you are talking about can easily be removed with a cloth.......and its normal.
