Hey everyone,

I am planning to buy a sponge filter that you hook up to an air filter for each of my tanks (to compliment the powerfilters) as it works nicely in my Krib tank. I found these for sale:

And these:

Do you know how to use them? Do you just hook them up to an air filter? Do you need a power head?

Would something like this be more effective?:

I have several of the hydro sponge filters and they work great. You can attach an airstone inside them and then connect to a pump or you can insert a power head into the lift tube. Either way works fine. I use my power heads with them in my large tanks and the airstone & pump in my fry tanks.

The corner box filter I haven't used in 30 years but they worked fine back then.

I was thinking of buying the one for the 80 gallons. What would be cheaper....an airpump or a powerhead? I'm broke! :dunno: Is it even possible to run one that large with an airpump?
