Last night I setup a new D-D pressurized Co2 kit. I left the powerhead diffuser contraption in the box and hooked up a new Rhinox 1000 ceramic diffuser.

But I cannot see how this is working because all the bubbles just come out and go straight up to the surface  , Surely this is just wasting Co2? is this normal?

Cheers
Jake.

Normal unless you have a really good water flow which will push the bubbles around the tank letting them have more time to mix into the water. Can you place the diffuser close to your filter outlet so this can happen a bit better?

Yes I can put the diffuser under the outlet. Is this normal practice?

Pretty much, the flow of the CO2 bubbles/mist around the tank is generally said to be a good method.
