Not completely sure if this is the right spot for this thread, but decided it would do.
Now, when I first started out into the fish keeping hobby, I had no idea you could put things like driftwood, alder cones and indian almond leaves into your tank! I really love them now, but would like to know more about what allows these certain items into a tank while others aren't. Hope that made sense.
I have some bark from my myrtle tree, as the tree sheds yearly, and am curious if I could put it into my tank if I take the proper precautions.
Or what about pinecones if I baked them to dry out any sap? I mean, we do use alder cones, so why do we not put regular pinecones into a tank?
Just wanted to know why some tree produced things were allowed into a tank while others weren't.
Thanks!
