now that i finally have the 5ft long 35 gallon tank set up i have about a 33x turnover however this is by using a koralia 1 and 3.

The koralia 3 is on the right side of the tank creates a lot of movement and the koralia 1 is on the left and doesnt create even half as much movement to the point where u can see a scummy film or buildup of some crap on the water surfece and nothing on the side of the tank where the koralia 3 is its like a barrier it looks realy odd. The barrier looks to me like its where the 2 different currents meet and i didnt know if i should either change the koralia 1 for a 2 or change them both for koralia 2,s to give an even flowrate at each side of the tank???

Ime not to sure that having the different flow rates at each end of the tank can effect the filtration in any way as the water is not getting circulated correctly?? and various other things like that it may cause.

The koralia 1 has a flowrate of 1500L/H and the koralia 3 has a flowrate of 3200L/H

To prevent the scum you may find it best to move the number 1 up higher to ripple the surface better.

Rather than just having the two pwoerheads pointing straight at each other, try having them point from rear corners towards the middle front of the glass, thus stopping the 1 being blasted back by the 3.

Ideally you want to cumble up some flakes and feed them in and try and see if there are any deadspots. The propellor pumps are quite deceptive about how much water they move (including putting your hand in front of them) until you see how small particles of food are put in.

If you don't want to use flake you could put an airstone in for a short while to observe the flow routes.

Andy's got awesome advice here. I'll just second his reccomendation for an airstone or other microbubbles to really see where the water's flowing :)

Thanks for the great advice ive pointed the powerheads in different directions now and the scum has now cleared which is great and later on when its feeding time ill try the trick with the flake food for sure and make sure i have no deadspots.
