Diet for a common Pleco

I have been reading here that common pleco's are omnivorious. If this is correct, then I should be feading him some "meat" in his diet. I'm not sure what to buy for this or what to feed him....

Right now he prefers the Algae I can't see that is growing on Plants and the glass to the Algae tabs I have...

my common plec lives off alge tabs, alge and stuff that hits the bottom like uneaten food, u dont have to feed them meat, if they need it they'll find it in fish flakes

My common adores the leftover bits of prawn my fahaka leaves. He also likes bloodworm and shrimp pellets.

They will eat anything they can get their mouths on. But giving it a varied diet will ensure it grows up fast, healthy and more resistant to disease

Thanks for all the great info. I think I will find a way to weight down some Tubifex worm and see if he will eat that.
