Hi -
I'm really new to this. I have a five gallon tank that holds a cory fish, another tropical fish (cant remember the name, but told it was good to have together with the others) and two mollies. The two mollies have only been with us about 3 weeks. One is all black and the other is white with black spots. When I bought the black mollie, I was told that she was pregnant. I bought her anyway thinking "How cool!" I've been waiting and waiting, watching the white spotted mollie follow her around "sniffing" her bottom - almost like cats and dogs sniff each other (WHAT IS THAT ABOUT??) Anyway, as of last night, no babies. I'm expecting babies, not eggs, right? Well, I was gone ALL day, came home tonight and she is definitely not fat anymore, but I see no sign of babies anywhere. Did I mess up by not separating her from the other fish? I mean, could one of the other fish have eaten all her babies in just a day? Which one?? I was shocked to not see her big belly, but am more concerned that I endangered the babies by not knowing what I needed to do. The white spotted one has a huge belly too but the way he's been chasing her around, I just assumed he was a male. Anyone have any ideas or advice for me?? Thank you so much!
