My female yellow lab has been holding eggs/fry in her mouth for about 2 weeks now. I wasn't too bothered about raising the fry and was just going to let nature take its course.

Then i read about how its best to separate the female from the male in order to stop her getting stressed out. I dont have space for another tank so i just went and bought a breeding net and put the female into that.

Its not very big maybe about 5x5 inches. My yellow lab is only around 2 inches at the moment. But now i feel quite sorry for her, she looks lonely and appears to want out of the net, which i can understand.

Have i done the right thing, or should i free her back into the main tank?

Thanks
Paul

I'd take her out if it were me. She'll probably be more stressed being in a confined space than with the male. I have a lab species tank, and I just stripped my female after her holding for four weeks. I left her in the tank since I don't have an extra and I'm not interested in breeding either. As long as you have lots of rocks, she'll probably spend most of her time in them and away from the other fish.
