Well.. I'm now 16 and have to face facts that I'm leaving school in 2 months. Over the last year I have made to establish myself in the web development business, but as of now I am earning a few hundred pounds short of what I need monthly to live on. Therefor, for the first year or two I'm going to need a job. After thinking of how to do this without ending my hobby, I finally accepted it wasn't possible. :(

So, over the last week I have found new homes for all my fish. I am keeping just 4, being the Moscow Blue guppies which are beautiful fish. I'm hoping that in a year or two's time when I earn enough online to be able to quit my (whats going to be) boring job. If that happens, I will be able to get back into the hobby.

No real reason for this thread, just wanted to tell you all that I'm going to be out of the practical side of the hobby for a while, but I'll still try to post here. :(

Good luck. I had to do a similar thing when I was a teenager, and it took me over 10 years to get back in the hobby. When you do get back into fishkeeping, you'll enjoy it even more than you do now :good:

Honey, I manage a full time hellish job, 30 something (just got a few new ones today) tanks and over 400 fish. I feed four times a day, do tank changes once a week, care for 3 rabbits, a dog, a cat and a house and husband. If I can do it, you can easily :)

I don't understand. You have to be 16 to even get a part time job here, and don't get out of school until late 17 or 18 years old. You can't live on your own until 17 (with permission) You are not considered adult until 18. Is it that different there?

I hope I am not wrong asking. I don't mean to be nosey or rude. You can tell me it is none of my business, but why so young?

at 16 you are an adult in the UK and can leave home and school. I think you can work at 15. Don't know, I've only lived here for 3-4 years and its still all so weird for me lol

Gotta admire those Bulldogs! They know how to make fine young men.

It's ok, Fishkeeper, you'll do fine. You sound very responsible.

:good:

At 16 in the states I wish I could have left home and school. but my mother was a pain and abusive, so there you go. I agree most kids aren't ready at 16, but some are.
