I had my crowntail in a 3 gallon split 3 ways. It was him, a female, then a veiltail male. The female in the middle got sick so I removed her and the other male, then split it in half and put a different female next to him. Even with more room and another female he just sits there under a leaf all day. He used to never stop moving and constantly attacking the glass to get to the girl.

Does he miss his girlfriend? is that possible? I don't think she's going to make it so what can I do to make him happy? His female neighbor isn't very active either, she doesn't even try to flirt with him. Should I put a male next to him instead? Or divide the tank back into 3 parts?

It is very possible that he is missing his girlfriend - many fish get attached to eachother and unforunately when one dies the other gets so upset that they then die too. This happened just last week with a lovely pair of angels i'd had for over a year and they looked so healthy but once one died the other one died the next day. Very sad

Well... I hope he doesn't die

He's eating and everything. I may go out and buy ANOTHER female and split the tank three ways and put him in the middle. maybe that will make him happy.

I read on waynesthisandthat.com he had a fish do the same thing when he moved the female he was jarred next to. When he moved the Female back the male was back to normal....so I guess it is possible...

Oh, so sorry to hear that Jen, thats a bummer :-( . Like I said in chat, buy him a castle or something heehee :p . Naw, but like I said, try to change it up with different females, see what he likes, let him play the pond  . Good Luck, keep us posted.
