i have a group of 6 denisonii barbs and went to get 2 more for my tank but when looking at them in the lfs every now and then 1 would go to the substrate and flash on the bottom. i watched them for about 20 minutes and it was probably happening every 5-10 minutes. it was a small tank probably 2-2.5 feet and had about 20 barbs in.... 
apart from this occasional flash they seemed in very good health with no signs of disease or problems. i walked away empty handed as i wasnt 100% sure on them. the lfs has had them in for a couple of months at least as they dont seem to sell fast due to the price tag. they had 2 tanks full and it was the same in the other tank.
was i being too cautious or did i do the correct thing? its the only lfs near me that sell these barbs at a reasonable price and size and i dont want to mail order any due to the costs and the fact that i cant view the fish first....
