a skimmer deltec is very good try and get one from ebay
you will not need a filter. your live rock will be the filter.
but if u have the filter then you can put live rock rubble and carbon etc in it :good:
are going to have corals? so a reef or a fish only?
you will need test kits. so ammonia, nitrate, nitrite,ph that will do until or if u get corals :good:
you will need salt d&d salt is good :good:
and a refractometer about £31 new http://www.reefstore.co.uk/shop/search.php?mode=search&page=1
remember take it slow. dont rush. also read and research as much as possible. i have spent so much on my tank but thats because i have brought every thing new.

Hi Mike.

Firstly do you want a fish only system or full reef?

2 korallia 1 powerheads £50
Deltec mce 300 or 600 £130 or £250
refractometer £30
salt (any salt really, i prefer redsea coral pro) £40-50
test kits £30
Liverock, 12-15kgs £150

Of course there are many different makes of equipment and they are all new prices, you should be able to get a good chunk off buying used.

If you are serious about the boxfish, they unfortunately get very very large (almost two feet, 60cm, depending on species!), so the tank size you're planning will not be large enough :(

If you're looking to do a more aggressive tank in a small tank like that, tobies are great little fish that are related to puffers. Many of them only get around 4 inches (10 cm). They are not reef safe though, so if you do end up going down the coral route (which everyone does eventually :p), they will most likely eat all your corals.
