Fish Crazy
I was at my local fish a little while ago, and I happened upon a very...unique...Rosy Barb. It had apparently been born without a mouth . It was a very healthy fish, but all it had in front was a sucking hole. It was not in any way injured; as I said, it looked like some sort of birth defect.
Well, a few weeks later, I went back to the same fish store. There in the barb tank was another mouthless barb. On first impulse, I thought it must be the same fish--but it would have to have been practically immortal to live that long in those pet shop conditions. So I'm wondering, does the fish store just have some screwed-up breeders, or is this deformity not so uncommon after all?
