Today I've picked up a small (4-5") deformed liposarcus (pardalis I think). He has a very snubbed face, deformed mouth (from the snub nose) and his tail is curved round to one side. His history is that he's been like this for "years" and he's "fat and lazy". He certainly seems to be eating well, he's lovely and fat (not scary fat). I had to bring him home and give him a chance.

I have no idea about his previous tank, but I'd be very surprised if his deformity was caused by being bent in a small tank as he isn't big enough - to have been bent round he'd have had to be literally kept in a margarine tub, so I think his deformity must be congenital (?).

Given how small he is and how long he's been this way, is there any hope of me getting him back right and him growing to his potential? Is there anything I can do to maximise his chances?

Thanks

Kathy

Well, he's settling in really well. His deformed face means he doesn't suck the glass like a normal plec would - he has to do it at an angle with his body sticking out.

However, he's eating really well - bought some new plec wafers on eBay ("Tropical" brand, which are best for the Royal) and he goes nuts for them. He seems to have taken up residence in the bogwood rocket with Nibbler the Royal. Normally Nibbler doesn't tolerate other plecs under there, so it came as quite a surprise to see them sharing a wafer without bickering under there.

Lisa took one look at him when we bought him and said he looks like Kermit, and I put it to Connie (my daughter who insists he's her plec) and she agreed. So Kermit he is. Better than my choice of name (Quasimodo *lmao*).

Can't wait to get a new camera so I can show you all :)
