What is the best way to decrease pH and make the water more acidic and keep it stable? Peat moss in the filters?

I don't entirely disagree with Yenko, but if you are going to try to adjust your ph, peat is probably the safest method. I have found that it has a rather limited effect though. If your KH is high, I doubt that you'll see much change.

For my ph, the only thing I use is bogwood in my tank, and that is for both ph and because my shrimp love it. I don't believe in adding more chemicals to your tank than absolutly necessary (water treatment) so I will stay away form the ph lowering chemical. The way I figure it is that my fish will do better in a stable, higher ph than an unstable ph that could rise of crash any time.
