Dechlorinator

Looks to me like a self-concentrated concoction.  If I had to guess, they probably did it by distillation.
 
The concentrated solution is probably more handy for the big tanks and ponds.  I personally wouldn't buy it because it looks like its "homemade."
 
I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work; dechlorinators are usually a solution of sodium thiosulfate, which can be made very strong.
 
The only reason why all dechlorinators aren't made that strong is because of ease of dosing and profit margins!
 
I am thinking of going for the much more diluted stuff lol. What will actually happen if I were to add more than I should to the water and effects on fish, would it be serious?
 
If that can do 14,000 liters then one drop of that must do a lot more needed than a bucket of 20 liters of water.

It's very hard to overdose on dechlorinator; you'd have to be using ten, twenty, perhaps thirty times, the recommended dose before you had any issues.
 
Okay thats not so bad. For I am going for the less concentrated solution from Interpet.

I make my own dechlorinator... A £5 bag of sodium thiosulphate will last you decades (for a single tank)!

Others might be interested so here goes...

500g of sodium thiosulphate will treat just over 142000 litres (37,517 gallons) of tap water (assuming 1 ppm chlorine).
 
It makes things much easier to make up a standard solution .
 
I make up 500ml of stock solution each time. For this I use 17.5 g of sodium thiosulphate dissolved in 500ml of cooled previously boiled water.
This concentration allows me to treat 10 litres of tap water with 1ml of stock solution. This, I apply with a medical syringe (just ask at the local chemist for a medicine syringe).
 
I bought a 0 - 100g electronic scale from Ebay (approx £5). you can calibrate these with either a standard weight or a pile of coins. A 20p coin weighs 5.0g so 20 x 20p coins weighs 100g...
 
I've been using this stock solution for a few years now and I've had no problems whatsoever..
 
Store the unused sodium thiosulphate crystals in an air tight container.
