For the past couple of months I have been putting too much dechlorinator in the water. Only just realised silly me, would this likely to have caused an adverse reaction to the fish?

Well while it won't have done any good! I doubt it will have harmed your fish. Dechlorinators are made for getting rid of chlorine (duh) and there would be no point in replacing one toxin with another! Think... different people (water supplies) have different concentrations of chlorine so a lot of people are probably putting in "too much" if they have low chlorine content in there water. :)

So in a nutshell... don't worry!

Don't worry too much. As long as you haven't drastically overloaded on it each time, your fish and water will be fine.
