Hello all!
I have a 20G tank with 8 halfbeaks and 3 elegant corydoras. I've recently started to have some brown algae build up on the plastic plants and rocks. I know I should have some live plants and plan on buying some floating plants so I disturb the fish the least with the addition and provide some nice cover for the skittish halfbeaks.
I have an older but still effective water filter (AquaClear Jr.) with foam filters, carbon filters and an ammonia bag. I used to be running the lighting at 12 hours per day with a 15W, 18000K AquaGlo lamp but have cut that down to 7 hours a day. I've done a nitrate, nitrite, ammonia test and everything is zilch.
The algae growth only showed up after a bloodworm feeding 3 days ago was ignored by the halfbeaks which is unusual but was devoured by the corydoras.
So, I'm aiming to get some suitable floating plants and maybe a nice algae eater which won't bother the halfbeaks or the elegant corydoras.
Any suggestions?
