dead snail?

Ok this may seem really stupid to ask but I have an apple snail and I really like it but she has been closed for a few days, is she dead? I hate to toss her out if she isn't. Is there a way to make it open if it's not dead maybe just sick?

Sometimes they stay like that for few days. If the operculum is tightly shut, you don't need to worry yet, but if it opens a bit and the snail doesn't start moving, then it is dead. Dead snails smell really foul too. Oh, and you can't force the snail to come out. Trying to open the operculum might damage it.
