Dead shrimp

Yesterday I found one of my bigger ghost shrimp dead in my 10 gallon tank. It was white and red, like the store-bought variety, lying upside-down. I don't think it died of natural causes, but there was no physical damage that I could see (though I really didn't check). Could it have been the ADF? Mine seems really peaceful and I feed him frozen food every other day...

how old was it? What are your perams? did it still have its eyes? was it male or female? have you medicated recently? Do you want some recepies for ghost shrimp? answere these questions i you would and I'm sure we can get closer to solving this mistery.

The joke was the ghost shrimp recipe.

Female. Had eggs but probably dropped them before.

Age, old because it was around an inch long. I've read conflicting information on their max size. The info ranges from 1.5 inches to 3 inches. I'm not sure which is true.

I medicated the tank with melafix, but that couldn't have been the cause.

It had its eyes.

I found another shrimp (the other big one) on its back this morning. it was kicking its legs but wasn't moving. I flipped it over, but it fell on its side. I propped it up and slowly let go and it fell over again.

Something is definitely wrong. There doesn't seem to be any physical damage done to them...

um are u sure dat's the shrimp and not the "shell" of it when it shreds? i'm just making sure

I'm definitely sure. I saw one molting and it's a totally different thing. it has eyes and legs and everything's intact.

Maybe there are trace elements in the water that the shrimps cant handle. You didnt anti snail the tank did you or something like that because anti snail meds are molluscisites and a shrimp is a mollusc

No, I didn't. I don't think snails'd survive in the 10 because I don't have plants.

Melafxz shouldn't hurt them and I don't add salt.

i think the best thing to do is get your water tested,your lfs should do it for you,or buy a good test kit

I don't think it's my entire tank, but I'll do that. Then again, it's definitely overstocked...
