hello this is my first post here, i'm hopin this is a rather laidback forum.

I recently bought 2 roseline sharks for my 55, and this morning discovered one dead. Unfortunately the fs is about an hour away so i had to flush it since i won't be makin the trip again within the 14 day return period :( He had red spots on his body i'm assuming these were bites, right? Yes, i'm fairly new to the hobby. I'm thinkin the culprits were my golden wonder killi's which the largest is about 4". 2nd question, do you think the remaining one will survive on its own? thanx!

A number of people have had denisoni just turn over for no really apparent reason. Gadazobe, (another mod), had precisely this happen.

It is difficult to tell if the red marks are bites, and if they were, if they were pre/post death or causative. Red marks, especially running into the fins could also indicate septicæmia caused by a bacterial infection.

Something I've seen a number of times is a denisoni suddenly decides there is something bad about to happen and take off at great speed banging into the end wall. I've never seen one killed doing that, but a friends Pink Tailed Chalceus killed itself doing that, and we had a post on here a while back where an Apollo Shark had died in exactly those circumstances.

As for the remaining fish, well, they are a shoaling fish and so will always do better in a group. That said, many shoaling fish are kept singly for years. The thing is stress, if they are in a quiet tank with no perceived threat, the natural residual stress from being alone will be moderated.

Tough break, pretty and expensive fish.

thanx, asides from the killis my tank poses no threat, hopefully the remaing one will survive, it is definately a beautiful fish

My Denisoni's lasted a month, they just started dropping off one by one. they were fine one minute then floating th enxt day or a few hours later.
