Damn! A bit gutted today as my male Golden Ram died this morning after having him for three days.
I'm at a bit of a loss to explain why really. The female still seems absolutely fine and for the first two days both of the fish were fine - i.e. swimming, eating etc.
When I got in last night, I noticed the male was breathing seriously heavily and hence I did a water test - nitrite was 0, ammonia was a fraction above 0 and nitrates were still low (can't remember exactly the mg/l but it was in the 'fine for sensitive freshwater fish' category).
I did a water change anyway - cos I felt I had to do something - and on closer inspection of the fish I noticed that he had what can only be described as a really long, clear poo coming out of him!!! Bizarre I know but I figured all was not well...
Anyway, he was dead this morning and on looking at him, I couldn't see any obvious problems.
Anyone got any ideas?? Could he just have been so stressed he died, or was there some digestive problem? Or something else??
Any advice appreciated,
Cheers
