Dead Plec And No Idea Why !

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): perfectly fine until i found her, nice round stomach was feeding well, perfect colours practically all the time, very lively.

Pulled her out when i found her she was in full colour, i then proceeded to do a water change then went back to look at her and found this! it looks like her face has been eaten away *see pics*

Volume and Frequency of water changes:25% weekly then 50% when i found the plec dead

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank:nothing apart from seachem prime

Tank inhabitants: 3 Angels, 2 Kribs, Ghost Knife, 3*now 2* L52s 16 Rosy Tetra *heavily planted tank & over filtered*

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): L52s after 1 month QT

Exposure to chemicals: none

Any help greatly received for the sake of the other plecs/fish
 
That looks like the same problem as that poor Cory had (posted by someone in this section ). And in the same area, near the eyes...
 
It may sound silly, but what were you feeding the plec?

Plecs eat soft algae and a vegetable based food. Flaked food and other meat based food will not keep these fish health. Just a thought!

The photo to me looks like hole in the head!
 
As I said in the Plec section, i still think that this is a bacterial problem as the wound looks too clean to be a cut or bite. They are still pretty new to aquarium life so it could well be a wild strain.

It is an absolute shame though and you have my sympathy as they are a gorgeous species :(
