I bought a second hand tank a week ago and it came with a few extras.

When i picked up my bootful of goodies it came with a shoddy glass sump which still had some old water in and also 4 medium, sized chunks of "dead" live rock. this rock has white coraline die off and has been out of water for a long time.

If i scrub it up with a tooth brush will it be re-seeded by new live rock or has it turned into standard ocean rock now?

Either way i think it will find its way into my tank once the new live rock arrives.

Yes it will in about 6-12months.

I have had a piece of dead LR in my tank for about 3 months and once it grew algea on it it looks just like live rock even though it isnt quite. The only way people can really tell that its not live is if I tell them .
