Long story short, I went out of town for not even 3 full days and when I got back I found my honey gourami laying on its side exhibiting late stages of dropsy. From research I’ve gathered that dropsy is a symptom of an underlying issue. What baffles me is that when I left he was eating, swimming normally, good color, etc. He passed away about 24 hours after I found him like that. I’ve had him for about 6 weeks, and the only strange thing I noticed was he at first had white, stringy poop. However, when he stared eating regularly the poop was normal looking. Does that mean that dropsy was likely caused by internal parasites? He was in a tank with 5 Julii corys who were added about 3 weeks after him (not quarantined, bad idea I know).
Basically, I’m just wondering if anyone has any advice on how I should proceed forward with my 5 juliis left. Should I put them in a separate tank and treat them with something like API General cure as a preventive/safe than sorry measure? Or should I just keep an eye on them in the coming weeks (I don’t see any symptoms of disease as of now). My ammonia and nitrite are 0 and my nitrates are around 10 so I don’t think it was water quality that resulted in my gourami’s dropsy. The only issue I’ve been battling is mildly cloudy/hazy water which I think I’m going to purchase a UV sterilizer for. Any advice would be appreciated.

I would opt to deworm whatever fish are in that tank. Treat that tank itself, don't separate.
