hello all, heres my issue:

i just moved into my new apartment to find a 70 gallon tank and filter left behind by the previous owner, which was clearly used for saltwater, and id like to use the tank for warm freshwater. i made a post in the freshwater forum about cleaning out the the tank but i thought id post here about the pump. im not sure what it is exactly, all it says is "320, 120 vac, 15 watt" and im not sure if this is too strong for the smaller freshwater fish thatll be in the tank. can anyone shed some light on this?

my other question is about how i should(if i can at all) clean out this pump. do i need to buy separate filter things for freshwater, or just new ones? can i just wash everything out with hot water to get rid of all the salt?

any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

I'd wash and scrub it, then leave it running in hottish water for a few hours to dissolve the salt. And just to make sure, make sure the first fish you put in after cycling aren't scaleless.

thanks for the advice, so far it seems like everyone thinks ill just need a ton of hot water to pull this off. good point about the scaleless, i didnt even consider that.
