Hello,

I recently purchased a Coralife Aqua Light Digital Power Center with digital timers for daytime and nighttime lights. I am trying to figure out an optimal lighting schedule and figured I would ask here. I do not have live plants, and algae is not a major concern at the moment. Help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Carl

I keep my tanks lights on for 12 hours for maximimum viewing, but 6-14 can in some
cases be acceptable, but 8-12 works best with me.

If algae is a problem a gap at midday could stop it.

9:30am two strips are ignited. 10:30am the other two taking the total to four strips.

8:30pm two strips are killed, 9:30pm the other two are killed.

Kinda gives a sunrise / sunset effect and I get more light time for viewing :)

I have timers for mine. On at ~6:30 am, off at about ~5:30 pm. Had this schedule before as I didnt have the timers, and it was right before I left the house in the morn and usually around when I got home. But I guess eventually i could change the lighting schedule maybe 10 or 15 each day until I got it to wherever. I just havent changed it because all of my fish are used to it and why change a good thing.

Mine comes on at 8:00 has a break between 12:00 and 2:00 (alge driving me mad) and then goes off again at 9:00

6 am....to......10am then 4pm.....to.......10.30pm These times are when I am in the house. Kinda selfish but hey, I pay the bills :hyper:

On my days off I turn them on at around 1-2pm until 10-11pm.

Working days 4pm-10-11pm.

I think along similar lines, doresy.

My lights come on at 4.00pm and go off at 10.00pm, so we are all there in the evening to enjoy looking at the tank.

In my 125 gallon (473 liter) my lights go on from 12pm to 10pm, the moon leds go on from 9:50pm - 1am. It used to be on from 10am-10pm, but reduced it due to hair algae and brown algae problems. Once I reduced it, the hair algae went away and the brown algae took allot longer to accumulate.

In my 29 gallon and 20 gallon long planted tanks, the lights are on from 10am-10pm. No problems with algae. The moon leds go on in my 20 gallon long from 9:50pm - 1am.

Mine come on 9:00am, off 1:00pm, break for two hours, on 3:00pm, off 8:00pm, then switch on a red led light for a couple of hours, looks good with a good film on and all the lights off.

Mine are (for both tanks)

On 8am
Off 9am

On 4pm
Off midnight

Plants are thriving fish are happy!

In my 10 gallon, my daytime light is on from 8:30AM-12:00PM, then again from 5:30PM-9:00PM. My moonlight is on from 9:00PM-8:30AM

my tanks come on about 6-8am for while i'm getting up and out the house, then back on around 4 when i get home and off about 10

Heres mine:

8am - 12.30pm moonlighting

12pm-10pm normal lighting

9.30pm-12pm moonlighting

Seems to be doing fine for me so i get around the clock viewing while im awake :)
