ammonia not quite a 2 more like 3 so i have not yet had my first 0
but i have nitrites high
when i drop in the drops it turns purple straight away!!!(api kit)

i was expecting a zero from ammonia before the nitrates went off the chart

Does seem unusual that the nitrites are so high, but you may have nitrite in your tapwater.

Nothing to worry about, sounds like it's going well

not at all, if hes dosed 4-5 ppm ammonia each 1ppm will convert into 2.7ppm nitrites, so just 2ppm of ammoina should put it off the chart

yes i have been dosing to around 4ppm
i also tried a bit more 5ppm and it cleared just as quick

i am adding 3-4ppm ammonia at the same time daily

I would suggest keeping down around the 3ppm level, this will happily feed the A-bacs, but not overload the N-bacs. 3ppm ammonia will convert to 8.1ppm nitrite, 4ppm will convert to 10.8ppm

Other than that, you sound like you've got a handle on it nicely!

ph has lowered to 7.4
